Prop 28 art funding is coming to school districts across California, and Colorz Kidz is ready to help bring more standards-based art education to your school! These additional funds can enhance your existing art and music programs or introduce new creative opportunities for students. We’re here to answer any questions and assist in developing an art program plan for the new school year.
PROP 28
WHAT IS IT?
In 2022, California passed Proposition 28: The Arts and Music in Schools (AMS) Funding Guarantee and Accountability Act. This initiative requires the state to establish new and ongoing art programs in school while providing additional funding for arts and music education in public schools. It ensures dedicated resources for arts programs, helping schools expand access to creative learning opportunities for students.
HOW CAN FUNDS BE USED?
For schools with 500 or more students, at least 80% of the funding must go toward hiring arts and music teachers. Schools with fewer than 500 students have more flexibility and are not bound by this requirement. The rest of the funds can be applied to teacher training, art supplies, materials, and partnerships with arts education programs, helping schools enhance and expand their creative offerings.
